A coworker/friend & I missed out on attending a prayer meeting for young professionals last night..so we had late dinner at nearby restaurant. We got into a discussion about O'Rielly & ScooBEY..so my "friend" says."oh I can't believe you're being such a PRUDE about Beyonce's sexy vids/music.." Of course I went off on this "friend" w/ love but let her know where I stand. I just found it interesting how she sides w the fact that its Ok to be overtly sexual b/c its ScooBEY's "husband". Sadly I will watch this "friend" closely from afar..since it isn't the first time she's had alarming statements I get the same thing all the time with one of my coworkers. "At least she was with her husband" and "she is making her money". I am like, really?!? O.K. I used to debate with her all the time, but now I change the subject or just state that "Beyonce is not my cup of tea" and pretty much plead the fifth or excuse myself from her presence whenever she mentions some of Beyonce's antics. I have distanced myself over time to the point where we are cordial and only interact on work related projects. She was one of my main mentors when I began my position 7 years ago. The really sad thing is this lady is 55 years old and a supposed Christian woman.

But to be grown and Christian with no discernment is just a shame.

Lord help her.. any woman who praises ScooBeydoo & Joe Camel is not righteous. Sadly I pray for them

Not really random thoughts, but I didn't want to derail the "Corporate Music Circus" thread:
If there were to be some sort of rebellion I would hope that it encompassed all aspects of media and not just music. I wish I could remember where I read this (it could have been the old VC forum or maybe David Icke) but someone was talking about how the OJ Simpson trial was 1) the start of media organizations including heavy amounts of celebrity junk as part of the regular news cycle and 2) the beginning of people becoming famous just for being famous. Once I started to think about it I realized that the person who made that comment was really on the money. Naturally there was some interest in the trial itself due to the nature of what happened…but then the lawyers and other trial participants like Judge Ito and Cato Caylin (sp?)started to become ‘celebrities’ of sorts (paparazzi following them, gossip about them in tabloids, etc.)
When I was a kid I remember being confused by how the media was treating this stuff like it like important information for the average viewer. Before the OJ trial most of the celeb stuff was confined to shows like Entertainment Tonight; sometimes you might see something particularly shocking on the regular broadcast but for the most part the fluff was separate from real news. Fast forward almost 20 years and celebri-crap is so ubiquitous that few people bat an eyelash at news anchors talking about celeb gossip for 5-10 minutes during nightly news or some gossip scrolling across the screen when you watch CNN. It’s inescapable, and the same companies that have forced their celebri-crap on the public are the same ones who are making sure that a handful of “singers” get a lion’s share of media attention at any given time. They do it with actors and actresses too but to a lesser extent (possibly because music can be a better manipulation tool than plain speech?).
And most of the stars on reality TV? Ugh! People who would have remained Hollywood nobodies when I was a kid are now household names and it’s not because these people have some exceptional talent, it’s because they’re fame whores who think they’re entitled to the public’s adulation and money just because they exist. They’re forced on the public too whether you watch their shows or not, and I’m not just talking about their endorsement deals or whatever. Their antics seep into some people’s brains and they start mimicking the people on these scripted “reality” shows. They’re so attached to the false reality that they’re not satisfied with that 1hr of escapism or whatever so they need to embody it – clothes, mannerisms, catch phrases, etc. Maybe it’s not fair to make this assumption but I think some of these people have to be pretty empty inside to want to fill themselves with this junk.

I just wish we would DO something. Some people have started petitions on change.org but the machine keeps turning and getting stronger everyday.
And from a timeline point of view, you/they were correct about the OJ trial being a turning point. never thought about it, but now that I have, yes indeed.

I am currently furious. There's this 10 year old girl I agreed to help with her english. from the get go she was disrespectful, I mena to the max. and just plain impossible to work with. I told her mother about it but her behaviour hardly changed. Now I discover she's stolen a very expensive pen from me. She wanted it the day she saw it and in a bid to motivate he I told her I would by her an entire set of them she would get an A for her end of term paper. She's so spoilt the concept of working for something is completely foreign to her. She kept asking for it. Now it's missing. I am so livid. Lord help me when I see that child tomorrow. Ugggh! why can't people raise their damn kids right. Now I'm going to be fuming all night. I won't get a wink of sleep becuase of this.

Some folk raise their animals way better than their children. If she has it, I hope she'll return it. Otherwise you should probably speak to her mother. And if she's a good mother, she'll get to the bottom of it. But either way, don't stress yourself. There's nothing you can really do at this point.

She sounds like a brat, so I wouldn't be surprised if she took it. Still, I'm the type of person who would give her a chance to correct herself. Saying something like "I think I dropped my pen the last time I saw you. Did you happen to pick it up?" and seeing how she reacts would probably tell me if she stole the pen. Whether she's a thief or not I think it would be best to terminate any contact with this child and be very explicit in your reasons for doing so. She and her mother may not like hearing the truth but she's still young enough to change and getting a wake-up call may be the kick she needs.

This child is a blatant liar. She lies all the time. Even to her mother. The last time I sat down with her and her mother she wanted to deny all the things she had done. I've called her mother, she says she is going to the hospital today and does not know when she will be free. I'm still so livid.

*Is the overhyped Ivy Park athleisure nonsense any more original than what's already out there?
*Would you guys buy this?
*Do you guys feel like Beyoncé's tired dramatic PR schemes that goes out anytime there's music or a tour comming up has pretty much ran its pittiful redundant course...i.e. divorce, pregnancy, alleged dragging for not giving credit to something, etc.
Who'll be watching "lemonade?" Is this supposed to make up for not promoting an album before a tour?
Just random thought questions?

^ I'd say "no" to your first 2 questions. Yesterday I would have said "yes" to question 3 but since Prince passed away and he was part of Tidalwaveoffailure I'd say that she's going to try to find a way to use his death and his legacy while promoting herself and her newest project.
And I won't be watching Lemonade, Kool-Aid, Tang, Yoohoo, or anything else she puts out. It's quite fitting that she named a project of hers after a beverage considering the thirsty stunts she likes to pull.
