Hey Guys I wanted to stop by and get your thoughts on Beyonce's Lemonade. For those of you who do not know what Lemonade is about. It was a long video documentary of Beyonce pretty much dropping her entire album with videos. It is on HBO and they giving free promotion this weekend for some cable providers. I will have to admit at first I thought it was going to be another childish trash she was going to release. However to my surprise it was finally IN DEPTH Beyonce we all be screaming on top of the hills for years for. I will admit some of the visual was disturbing and denomic to me. While others was emotional and raw. She discuss Jay z cheating on her.  ?? She discuss about her father. She read poetry. She talking about black women vulnabilities. Some of the visuals was out the box. She was playing a piano. ? She talk about forgiveness. She showed clips of her wedding, blue, her mom wedding, Belly bump ?. I will give her little but of credit. She finally stop weave wagging and shaking her butt on the videos. She finally show some growth. But the Beyhive yet again trying to pigeon hold her and is upset they don't got anthem to twirl on. She Goop the kids... ?? they are mad. Then she release the album on Tidal. If you guys haven't see Lemonade, I recommend you watch it to understand what the hell Beyonce was going through. Jay z cheated on her. See this person reaction watching the documentary. |

Visually compelling but the message is still ironic Beyonce. The message I got from this was Jay cheated and I'm staying with him although my dad cheated om my mom,I saw her pain but I'm still gonna stay with Jay, I claim to be a boss with my own money but I'm still just gonna settle with constantly being disrespected by Jay.
I'm sorry, I had high hopes for this video but I can see right thru it. Although she had all these black women in her video, she looked like a white women in some scenes (especially where she's singing the Freedom song on a stage with blonde hair and white skin and the audience were all black women). Her career has been made by stepping on black women (stopping Ledise from performing at the Grammy's, stopping Letoya Lucket from performing on stage at the BET awards, always sabatoging Kelly's CD releases, she never stops her fans from attacking black female singers and couldn't even just say 100% or at least 50% black in the Loreal commercial, always lightening her photos, wished she was Latina, etc).
Maybe Beyonce is trying to change, atone from her past crimes against black women. I'll keep giving a side eye until I see how serious she is with this new found blackness she's promoting (will she keep it up during the CDs promotion and actually speak out/fight for issues that affect black women).
It's odd that Jay would even agree to her making his cheating the subject of a HBO special (he looked so uncomfortable in those kissing/hugging scenes) just that makes me think this is all a Jedi Mind Trick to save Tidal, attempt to get her as many black female fans as they can because Tayor Swift and Adele has all the white women. I wanna get in formation but I just can't.

Did ya'll not read the tea that was dropped in this forum about this New Black Power/Deep Beyonce??? The truth is folks need to be paid,appearances need to be kept, and Tidal needs to be kept afloat...while all in the name of staying relevant. Nothing more, nothing less. The chick won't and never be that deep.
I'm I the only one who finds it funny that Prince only allowed Tidal to stream his music???
I'm sure that now he's gone Tidal is benefiting from this and ironically Bey drops her album last night.....things that make you go hmmmmmmm.

I like the song about "my Daddy said shoot"- This was a beautiful show.Poetic lyrics that someone else helped her write..I believe one of those persons were seven so and so...Yes she called out J but she also gave herself a license to stay with him.This is a clever way to agree with the world about his cheating but it also shuts the world up cause now the cats out the bag...turn lemons to lemonade.Turn the sour rumors of J cheating to a sweet walk to the bank with a check from HBO. I love when she narrated "how can you be in two places?" I often wondered that to -how can a cheater have 2 families 2 lovers....

To top it all off, the timing of this BS release really bothered me. Several of my friends and I (who are diehard Prince fans/stans) were shaking our heads at how she could not postpone the release in lieu of the fact that the world has lost Prince, one of the most talented artists/musicians to EVER live. She has stolen others thunder/moment/etc.(among other things) before and selfishly capitalizes off others tragedies, and has absolutely no class nor decorum... just greedy, selfish, and tacky!!! First off, this Lemonade mess and the controversy surrounding it is so contrived and so easy to see through, its almost embarrassing. Some of the lyrics I have read (I refuse to watch that creepy crap based on the stills), sound like some serial killer (i.e. wearing the skin and body parts of the other woman)... like, WTF!?!? Everything surrounding Prince's death, his link to Tidal, and many comments about him being worth more dead than alive have really been bothering me (once I snapped out of shock). For this Project, Beyonce used a New Team, "Rihannas Old team" . I mentioned this on RWS months ago just before news hit that Bey was replacing / restructuring her team. Rihanna has been dealing with Beyonces Bullying since becoming an Artist on the Roc 'to include this years Grammys'.
In theory the thought for this particular project was.....what worked so well for Rihanna will work 3 times Better for Beyonce. You can clearly see the the influences of (What now, Disturbia ,Better have my Money ) as well as elements of Anti and its Mystic story telling format.
Regardless of PR Fluff fed to media about no Drama Between the Two, The truth is it has been very Conniving, Manipulative , and at times Brutal. Spilled out at Mutiple events like the MET GALA ,and the GRAMMY AWARDS, without the Public having a Clue. If this project was truly autobiographical, I can tell you that an awful lot is missing.
In a " True Holywood Stories format" Beyonce is a Modern Day Version of Gloria Swanson as [Norma Desmond], in the Classic Old Hollywood Movie "Sunset Boulevard".

At the same time, there's nothing with coming home or getting back to your roots. She is set money-wise for life. Even her popularity is set (see her crazed fanbase), so she can return to do work she wants to do and that's okay. It's all okay. Different lanes for different Janes. She used old clips from the countless hours of documenting most every minute of her life to insert into the short film. I take that, her practice of photographing, recording, herself and family as a form of journaling. I wonder if JayZ knew at the time they filmed those cuddling scenes that she would use those "seemingly" against him or to play him out on stage in a not-so-great light? A couple of YouTubers were not happy with the music selections within "Lemonade", saying she didn't give them anything to twerk to, or do death-drops to, and to that I say, so what? She made the album for black women, black womanhood and black girls and I love the sentiment and intent (if indeed that is the case) behind her giving that to US. |
