Just something I picked up from this article...
Beyonce 'refused to audition' for Disney's Princess And The Frog... but Alicia Keys tried out THREE times
According to Jen Rudin, the woman tasked with finding a voice for the role of Princess Tiana: 'Beyoncé expected an offer, but wouldn't audition and so she didn't get one'.
The thing is, considering how proud she was of her role in Epic, I know she must have wanted to be the voice of Disney’s first black Princess. You know how Beyonce likes to be the first to do everything. I suspect that’s why she accepted Glastonbury, because she mistakenly thought she would be the first female to headline the Pyramid Stage.
It now makes me wonder if she was put off by this:
‘They had to sing, so we made it clear they needed sheet music.’ Says Jen Ruden.
Is it also why she had to lip sing the national anthem at the inauguration? Was the decision made to use a pre record to hide her lack of basic musicianship skills (ie reading sheet music...), when faced with having to sing live with a professional band? The stunt at the Super Bowel press conference required her to sing alone, therefore, all she had to do was memorize her part and not worry about such things like keeping time. This is probably what she does generally, and the music is built around her.
My question is: If this is what she loves, why doesn't she just educate herself in the art?
Learn to read and write music....play an instrument.
Especially if it could help her avoid lip singing at historical events and assist her in getting roles.
Anyway, as Jen Rudin goes on to explain, the role went to Anika Rose because she ‘was the most qualified.’
