I am baffled with her weird accent. It was hilarious how someone above referred to it as "slave dialect" because it's true; however, as a Houstonian, I am also embarrassed because it makes it seem as though everyone from here speaks like her...and her mother! No one speaks like that, not the homeys in the hood, nor the suburban homeys, so it's not even an economical thing. Why can't she speak better than that after all these years? I've heard some say it's the Creole in her, yes she has roots in N.O. but she wasn't born and raised there, like myself, I have roots in Louisiana, my whole family has that Louisiana drawl, all of them were born and raised in Louisiana, I wasn't, I was born and raised here in Houston, I mean, I recreate a really thick southern TX drawl sometimes for fun, but I know how to turn that off, but I've never heard anyone speak the way Beyonce does. Not Kelly Rowland, not Matty, not Solange, or any of the ex DC members...all from Houston.
