Here is something that is going to piss off the Behives. Mrs Hudson got her star in Hollywood. Some critics say it is unfair to give her such a recognition, because it is "too soon" for her, and she didn't sell that much records. However, she her singing abilities and voice have been praised, as well as her acting. Remember this girl got an oscar for Dreamgirls!
Now I don't know if any celebrity can be nominated for a Walk of Fame star, but as far as I know Beyonce doesn't have one as a solo artist.
It may too soon for J Hudson, but I do believe there's a reason behind this. She may not have sell lots of records, but the impact of her performance in Dreamgirls and the feedback that followed was huge. So huge it literally overshadowed the one who billed as "the star".
What do you think? Is it too soon to give Jennifer Hudson a star on the Walk of Fame? Does she have to prove herself more? Or do you think she deserves it?

Although I do feel Jenny is a great talent and that she is worthy of a little praise for that. I don't know if her getting her star was a premature move. What people are calling legends and icons today are far from what use to be deemed as such. There is no one out at this time that can honestly say they have paid their dues in the same way or has put in the amount of time and years, as others did who came before them. What's shameful is a lot of the veterans had to have others petition for them to receive this kind of honor, while today awards and accolades are just being given away to any bobble head who has had a hit song or two or knows the right people or connections in the business to help perpetrate the lies. LOL. They strut around like they are the inventors of the very shit they've stolen from the old school artists who have made it possible for them to have any kind of platform at all. It is definitely a new day and a new time where things are done differently. Not shading Jenny as if she doesn't deserve this, but at this time I can't and don't respect how things are done in the business. I find myself side eying a lot of what gets hailed as greatness or deserving these days because I know there are under the table types of deals going on in Hollywood. I also believe there's a special club that certain celebs belong to to get the perks, the work, the attention, the record spins, the movie deal, the awards, the magazine covers, etc...

I think they could have waited for some consistency in her work before giving it to her.

what's done is done! oh well! i think they should give one to Brandy. yes they should have gave it to B! She deserves it! Been in the biz for 20 years! They giving it to some bimbo I havent heard on the radio since 2008. Or even knew she was still doing music. That is so damn odd. They could have gave it to anyone but her. J hud is cool, but shit what has she done in her career that was so worthy that needed a star? Next thing you know Justin Bieber and Raz B gon get one.

There is something about Jennifer that I really can't put my finger on. I'm not too fond of her. What has she done to deserve that star on the walk of fame? She won an oscar? Cool. I feel like sshe got it for being the star of the weight watchers campaign.

what's done is done! oh well! i think they should give one to Brandy. Never thought about that! I remember somebody telling me the way Brandy came up in Moesha (don't know if I got that right) and how that show was groundbreaking. Just the way you had a young braided black female leading a show like that. Kinda the same with her role in Cinderella. I thought her vocals were almost as good as Whitney in that.

The only reason I don't say it is because I'm happy she got the Oscar instead of Beyonce, and upstaged her. Also, because of everything she's been through, it sounds wrong to dislike her. Which is another thing, it's almost like she's been getting by on sympathy. Obviously, what she went through was tragic....but, when does the time come to assess what she has done since that Oscar?

Thanks for responding to this thread people! Well I think J Hudson deserves recognition, but I have mixed feeling. as her being awarded with an Hollywood Star. I don't think her career was long enough or solid enough to receive this kind of award. Even though I fully understand the impact her role in Dreamgirls had. I agree with people saying the real concept of "legendary" or "iconic" is somewhat lost these days. The music industry has turned into a popularity contest. Did you know that Rihanna will receive the "Icon Award" at the AMA? How the hell this chick is an icon? People now believe successful=icon. You can be extremely successful and then being forgotten. For example, I can't recall a single song made by the Backstreet Boys, and these guys sold like 100 millions albums, including 40 million for debut album ALONE. And now many people don't remember this group. I could find many examples like that... Aaron Carter, Hanson...

The only song by the Backstreet boys I know is Please Don't Go, other than that....they're just dead to everyone except the fans they had back in the day. I'm still trying to figure out how the HELL is Rihanna an Icon? Theres nothing Iconic about smoking weed and popping your vagina on stage and taking back a nigga who put his hands on you. Excuse my language, but if that's the case then everyone should be an Icon. 20 years from now, Rihanna will NOT be remembered. Why is it that she's the first artist EVER to get one when there were ACTUAL Icons who came before her? She's only been in the business for 7 years and she's an Icon? If she was doing Iconic things, then maybe but she isn't. Her fans already think she's a legend. Ugh, I cant with these children.

I really don't understand the reason behind them giving her a Star. They could have given it to somebody else.

There are a few steps, for one thing, "You have to have been famous or really good at your job for at least five years to be considered." Also, "You have to pay a sponsorship fee of $30,000 for a star - that's about £23,000. Half of the money is used to create the star, which is made out of brass and terrazzo - the black and red speckled material. The other half is given to the Hollywood Historic Trust, who look after the Walk of Fame.? Then the site read that the other two requirements are to write in and tell them why you want one, and then if you are given one, to be present at the unveiling...with some celebrity friends, and some fans. So it's clear that you dont have to really earn one, but just be selected based on your star status. So do u think JHud deserves a star right now? No. Its too soon,I mean, she's great, I love her voice, but I just don't think she does, or has done that much since Dreamgirls! It must've been slim pickins this yr. I'll leave that link below if anyone wants to check it out. Happy Valentine's Day fam!! www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/amp/45285479
