check this shit out
Despite pressure from the community to end his partnership with Barneys over allegations of racial profiling, Jay Z's holiday collection at Barneys dropped yesterday featuring $900 baseball caps and $2,600 leather boxing shorts...
From The NY Post
Jay Z’s controversial collection for Barneys was unveiled Wednesday, and it’s chock-full of gifts for that overspending, ostentatious rap mogul in the family.
The $1,000 cedar-lined humidor, $2,590 leather boxing shorts and $875 python-brimmed Brooklyn caps are for sale in a separate back room of the Madison Avenue department store that is guarded by a bouncer and has more employees than shoppers.
The store can use the extra eyes. The cheapest item in the 30-piece collection is a $70 T-shirt. At the high end — a $33,900 gold Hublot watch.
Other items from the collection include a $4,500 cashmere throw, a $12,500 knuckle ring and a $58,000 Rick Owens crocodile jacket.
Who in ratchet, ghetto, non-investing your money in productive things, hell would buy this shit?? Is he delusional? Or just stupid??

The large majority of his fanbase don't have this kind of money. And I don't know if rich people will ever buy that, but I'll never know...

hahahaha
This is just a bad joke, Here's what I think is happening. Either one of two things.
1. This is a genius marketing trick. It's an illusion, what they really wanted to sell was a $70 t shirt. But how do you make people want something like a T shirt? attach an ideal to it. Make it part of a very exclusive, very expensive collection. The reason people like expensive clothes is that they makes a statement about them. The clothes can be ugly or cheaply made but if other people recognise them as being "from that super expensive line" then mission accomplished. So all those other things were probably made in a very small quantity because they probably don't expect many people to buy them. But they hope there are enough fools to spend $70 on a cheaply made tshirt just because it belongs to some exclusive range.
OR 2. Someone in marketing and sales has let their cocaine habit get out of hand. Jay-z appeals only to the people who he used to be like. And those people don't have Barney kinda money. You're not going to find a white milionaire CEO's wife looking at Jay z's ugly mug and wanting to attach her husband and by extension herself to that. Not even for a cheap stocking filler. These people wear and use old established brands Chanel, Dior, Dolce, Armani. And other even more exclusive brands that have a select client list which does not include celebrities. None of them are checking for Jay Z.

The people who WOULD WANT this shit, can't afford it.
The people who CAN AFFORD it, don't want it.
So, what does that equation equal???
And eljjai , I think its a combo of both #1 and #2.
Mark my words, all this "pulling out the stops" is the final sign that this whole Jay/Bey era is coming to an end. And it will not be pretty.

I have so many questions. Yes, I am a conspiracy type, stay with me and let me explain. 1. Exactly WHY were the 2 shoppers stopped? Were they acting suspiciously? Did their credit cards fail? If they used cash was the money covered with blood spots? Barneys denied that it was their employes that reported them, blaming it on the NYPD. So the NYPD just stopped 2 shoppers at random, because they were black? This is New York, we have 1000 brothers and sistas that make big bucks and shop at Barneys without problems. And how convenient that this profiling occurred 2-3 days before JayZ's launch. I could be wrong but I smell setup/shakedown. What if JayZ paid these two to act all crazy and be singled out, on purpose, for suspension? He don't care about us being profiled unless he can make money from it. So now he goes from 10% to 100%, from barneys, for his (lol) charity? Why did barneys cancel the party? A bad move for the people that would buy this overpriced stuff and like JayZ. This would make them look worse to us, cementing our "belief" that SWB at barneys is not allowed. Did they find out something? Business is in business to make money, green is the only color. What's even crazier to me is jay's need to throw his own party? Maybe I'm crazy but J always reminds me of a con artist. I'm just waiting for all those athletes, that signed with j, that most of that money ain't going in their pockets but his.

Did their credit cards fail?"Yes - Barneys/Macy's think a black person with lots of money is suspicious. No. "This is New York, we have 1000 brothers and sistas that make big bucks and shop at Barneys without problems."Lots of people have said it happened to them too. Many sit back and take it. "And how convenient that this profiling occurred 2-3 days before JayZ's launch."The profiling happened weeks ago. "Why did barneys cancel the party? A bad move for the people that would buy this overpriced stuff and like JayZ. This would make them look worse to us"To look sympathetic. To avoid protesters. To hide.
