Hello people. I wanted to share some thoughts on the Entertainment Industry and the Music Business in particular.
I am sharing with you all some articles about the topic and plan to post more stuff later.
The entertainment business is in my opinion, a form of human exploitation. The more famous, popular and successful is a star, the more exploited she is. Don't believe me? Ask all Motown artists, mainly Michael Jackson.
As you know celebrities love to flaunt non stop their wealth in your faces, bragging about it constantly, to show they "made it". But how much money do very famous singers really make? Why some of them (Rihanna, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Lil Wayne, among others) can't take a break and need to release material EVERY YEAR? Why some of the biggests legends (Whitney, James Brown, Toni Braxton etc...) ended up in DEBT? How is it possible considering their fame and success?
An other thing that should be questionned is the validity of the record sales reported. Many of them are inflated. Same for views on Youtube, popularity on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, and concert tickets sales. And don't forget net worth, inflated too!
I've been researching a lot about the secrets of the entertainment industry. That's something that quite fascinates me for some reason.
Here are some articles that I recommend you to read with attention. I will post more in this topic later. Don't hesitate to share your opinion or other information you know.
