I used to watch with amusement how very very thirsty Beyonce and Jay Z were to be considered bossom buds with the Pres and his lady. Everything from Beyonce strong arming her way to sing for their inaugural dance, to randomly attaching herself to Michelle's "Let's Move" campaign, to hosting fundraisers whilst barely know the difference between the right and left wing, Lying about never doing anything political before (when I say George you say Bush!). I remember people on DR getting so vexed about why the Pres and first lady would associate with these fools. ( I was one of those who complained about it) Looking back I now know that Beysparado and Jay Zoo probably paid very dearly for every photo op, every shout out, every fist bump, hug and whatever else they got from the 1st couple. It's just the name of the game, campaigns don't run on oxygen. I know a lot of the time the media loudly disapproved of how Obama seemed star struck and was more concerned with rubbing shoulders with celebs than being prez, I personally think Obama's 1st campaign was pure marketing genius.
But what I'd like us to discuss is what we imagine was the real deal behind the photo-ops and all that.
1.Between Bey and Jay, who was more desperate to be seen to be liked by the 1st couple? 2.What did Michelle really think about Bey? I remember them inviting Jhud over to their house, whilst beyonce never got a personal invite. 3.Note that now that the campaigns are over you don't hear Michelle gushing over Beyonce any more. 4.What does the Prez really think of Jay Z and his ilk? Remember his comment when asked about the Jay/Bey Cuba visit?
5. In the rare instance that they were ever alone together what could Michelle and Beyonce ever have to talk about together?
6.Do you think that paying for good press from the 1st family has worked out well for Bey or Jay or both of them? 6b.Why/why not?

1. Jay 2. M called B a role model. I think she's a fan. Why else would she let the girls watch Beyonce perform? 3. True. Still disappointed that she ever did. 4. He's a fan. The Cuba thing shamed him a little. 5. B's music. 6. Why would Obama need their money? The Carters "raised" pocket change in the grand scheme of things (4 million out of 1 billion for the campaign?).

The Carters "raised" pocket change in the grand scheme of things (4 million out of 1 billion for the campaign?). 2 billion dollars (both parties) for presidential campagins whilst entire states declare bankruptcy and teachers are over worked and underpaid? Really? Well perhaps it was not their money the Obama's were after. Perhaps they were after their influence amongst people who don't usually vote. Also known as the ratchet demographic. Not that everyone who voted for Obama is ratchet. I simply cannot see how two highly educated, supposedly socially-aware, extremely successful people can have so much adoration for people like Jayz and Beyonce. I am convinced commodities were exchanged. They As for conversation, have you heard B talk when she is scripted? if thats how bad she sounds when she knows what she is supposed to say I just cannot imagine... As for the girls watching bey sling it, kids will be kids, even presidents kids. I wouldn't be surprised if Sasha and Malia were fans of Beyonce, her juvenile lyrics do connect with immature people and kids who don't know any better. Though I would expect Michelle to make sure her kids new better. Michelle who comes from a family of academics cannot seriously consider Beyonce (who comes from a circus family) a role model. I personally think Barrack had had it up to here with Jay-zoo's mount Everest ego and that cuba thing scratched at the veneer. Interesting how they only started being in each other's pockets when the election came along. Where are the reports of Bey and Jay being friends with them before they became prez candidates? If indeed the prez and Michelle are genuinely smitten with the carters what does that say about them?

I don't think any money is worth the embarrassment Beyonce caused Michelle Obama and the President. Does anyone else think there is more to their relationships than we know about? Or is it just the Obamas pity the Carters?

I had to take a minute to formulate my response...here goes:
1.Between Bey and Jay, who was more desperate to be seen to be liked by the 1st couple? I'm pretty sure Camel initiated the whole thing, and she just followed his lead. I think they both were desperate for it, but for different motives. Jay-Zoos would have been more about the "power move" that it would bring for his image and brand. Beyonce, just wants to be seen in pics with the POTUS and FLOTUS a la Marilyn Monroe type imagery. She just wanted the photo op.
2.What did Michelle really think about Bey? I remember them inviting Jhud over to their house, whilst beyonce never got a personal invite. I think Michelle doesnt really give Beyonce much thought outside of the mainstream, and she just followed the natural flow where everybody just says they love her, like, the sheep mentality, because until 2013, you were SUPPOSED to love Beyonce, JUST BECAUSE. And FLOTUS wants to be with the status quo on that. But if you REALLY were to get down to FLOTUS's list of inspirational women, and the women she listens to and reads, I'm willing to bet Beyonce Knowles IS NOT on that list, and never was even mentioned.
****** I take that back, FLOTUS may listen to Bey on a superficial level, like clowning around with her girls in PJ's, doing the Single Ladies dance, or something, but nothing deep and profound. Hell no. She looked at Beyonce as, Aww, that cute young girl! You know what I mean?
3.Note that now that the campaigns are over you don't hear Michelle gushing over Beyonce any more. See #2. She doesnt really feel that way about Beyonce, AND even if she did, the fiasco with Cuba, etc probably turned her off. Barack is her husband, and no woman appreciates anyone who comes against him and gives him problems.
4.What does the Prez really think of Jay Z and his ilk? Remember his comment when asked about the Jay/Bey Cuba visit? I think its majorly like how FLOTUS felt about Bey as I described in #2. To expound, I lost A LOT of respect for POTUS because I would think he would have known that eventually that would NOT be good for his image. And the Cuba thing, showed him that. When you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.
5. In the rare instance that they were ever alone together what could Michelle and Beyonce ever have to talk about together? Not one cotton picking thing, and I do mean NOT ONE. Except maybe for shoes and shopping, or some vapid ish like that. I imagine them sitting around would be full of awkward silence, punctuated by a funny comment or nervous laughter every now and then, until FLOTUS is "rescued" by one of her assistants, and politely sees herself from the room, while Bey is left like a grinning idiot alone....either that, or someone concludes the meeting, and escorts Bey from the room, grinning like an idiot on her way out. I see Michelle asking her a thought provoking question, and Beyonce giving one of her patent DUMBASS responses, and Michelle just looking like....oooookaaaaay, this girl is dumb.
6.Do you think that paying for good press from the 1st family has worked out well for Bey or Jay or both of them? At first it got them attention (Jay and Bey) but ultimately no one cared or respected them more for it because we all knew the thirst and that they paid their way up in there, and were fronting like they were closer with the Obamas than they really were. And for the First Family, I think we all know the hit their reputation and image took for it. Fortunately, still, no one of importance cares enough about the Carters to continue to link them to the Obamas, so thankfully the First Family can put that fiasco behind them, especially with bigger issues going on now.
6b.Why/why not? No one cares, and everyone is now aware of the extreme thirst the Carters have.

Only Beyonce and Jay Z stans think that they're actually "friends" with the Obamas. The fact is, they've been in the President's presence far less than a lot of other celebrities who did way more for the campaign. Like Oprah. Like John Legend. And George Clooney. And Tom Hanks, who was invited to a private dinner in London that the Obamas hosted for the Queen. And Eva Longoria and Kerry Washington, both who are college educated and were personally appointed by Michelle Obama to sit on her White House committee for the the arts. She appointed Sarah Jessica Parker as well. Guess who didn't get appointed? Beyonce. She's supposedly a fan and "friend" of Beyonce, but she couldn't put her BFF, the so-called "King" of music, on the arts committee? You notice they haven't been mentioned or called upon by the Obamas since the second term started. There is one star that they are real genuine friends with and that's Jennifer Hudson, who's not only been to the White House (personally and not just to perform like Beyonce does) but to their house in Chicago. Basically, it's the people who don't brag about hanging out with the Obamas that actually hang out with the Obamas. The Carters are not their friends, no matter how much they try to convince the world that they actually hang out with the first family.
