I'm starting this thread to discuss King B artistry. Mainstream media have been gushing non stop about her "greatness", comparing her to legends such as Tina Turner, Madonna or MJ. But is that comparaison justified? Does she really deserved to be called a legend? And she is really the best artist of her generation? MY ANSWER: NOPE.
On this thread I'm going to post music videos and songs from other artists. Mainstream/Major artists and underground singers, not only from America but the whole world. I listen to music coming from everywhere. To me music is beautiful it doesn't matter which language, culture, country, or genre. I just love music.
As I listen to many different artists I can tell Beyonce is REALLY OVERRATED. Again, no one can deny the girl has talent: her performances are pretty good and she can sing her ass off. She's just not that great. Not a genius. Just a good performer. The aim of this thread is to show that they are plenty of talent out there, they just don't get the exposure that Beyonce has.
Don't hesitate to contribute to this thread as well.
I'll start today with Dawn Richard (ex Danity Kane and Dirty Money member who was signed on Diddy's label). Talking about Diddy, this guy is dumb. Really. I don't know why with all the power and influence he has in the industry (supposedly) and all his money he couldn't offer a proper record deal to Dawn. She is now a FULL TIME INDEPENDENT artist with no backing from any major recording label or company. I honestly think her songs and music videos are quite original, catchy, entertaining and creative, considering that she doesn't have a huge budget.
Another singer who should have become a big star in my opinion is Teedra Moses. She released only one studio album to date in 2004, "Complex Simplicity". It is one of the best comtemporary R&B albums I have ever heard. Her most famous song is "Be Your Girl".
I'll post more later. Give me your thoughts.
