DC was fairly new and did the college circuit like other acts (circa 95 or 96). Keep in mind Beyonce was around 18, which tells you about her real age.
They did a show at the HBCU my husband attended.
My husband just relayed the following to me (after all these years):
DC had a show on campus. Kelly was really cool (and according to my hubby very pretty in person) and mixed and mingled with all of them and the other two (Lativia and Letoya) did the same, BUT Beyonce was a total stuck up bitch. She didn't talk to anyone, wouldn't speak and actually questioned why she had to be there in the first place. She thought she was better than anyone and didn't want anyone to touch her and (quoting my husband) had a really really "stank" attitude.
The students on campus were not having it! To quote various statements shouted and directed to Beyonce
"Bitch don't nobody want your stuck up ass"
"I'll make your stuck up half white ass suck my dick"
"Half white WHORE"
"You a negro peeing" (my husband explained this to me. A negro peeing is an African American sporting died blonde hair, my husband described her as having blond braids at the event)
The touting continued even during their performance. Everyone was cool when Kelly, Latoya and Lativia sang but when Beyonce sang her part, the entire audience gave her a big round of WHORE in unison.
Bey ran off, taking a short cut through the cafeteria drenched in tears.
I just thought I would share. It was a shock to me and the only reason why this came up, is that we were having a conversation about Pharell (cause like everyone else we love the song Happy) and his true age and the real age of celebs who stans think are younger (LOL/SMH).
