I don't wish bad luck on anyone, particulary on someone I don't know and whom I have been a big fan for years. But we gotta admit, Beyonce's career is turning into a disaster. Everything seems to be doing well for the black pop princess though. A successful tour (Mrs Carter), a good selling album (Beyonce) deals with several brands (Toyota, Pepsi), she's a mummy and has a loving husband. What else could be wrong? And why criticize her? After all she works hard, so she deserves all she got, right?
It could be if only... Her entire career and by extension her private life wasn't based on lies. When your existence is made off lies, it's going to catch you up sooner or later. It's one of the rules of this life on earth: what goes around comes around.
I remember as a teen, I was a great Beyonce fan. But by 2008-2009 I started to see her differently, something changed. I learned about her stealing credit. Then some lies about her past. Then could see clearly how she would copy her peers in the industry (Shakira, Kelly, Rihanna, Amerie) just by watching her music videos on MTV or hearing some of her songs... I lost respect for her. How could you call yourself an artist while stealing other people's work? A real artist creates or add something new, not just paste and copy.
Now she CAN'T keep up with the lies she created in order to maintain her career. She needs to create more and more lies, pull more stunts, steal from more people to keep up with her career. She has no choice. However the day mask will finally be uncovered, the downfall will be a rude, hard one.
Everything she has done since the B'day era screams desperation. Remember her attempts to be embraced by the latino crowd? It didn't work. Then she tried to win an oscar for Dreamgirls, but J.Hudson took the cake instead. Bey tried after to show how wise of a business woman she was by selling parfumes and clothes (House of Dereon) which didn't work either. She tried to steal MJ's title after his death only to get called out by his fans (that mess started when she gave herself the moniker "King B"). It didn't work either. Even paid articles stating she was the new MJ didn't really convinced people. With her 4closure album, she was craving so much for that iconic status. It didn't work, none of the songs in the album were deep or meaningful enough to be called future classics. She was fading away from the spotlight until she showed her bump at the VMAs. Then the fake bump. We all know what happened next. Now she wants to play the "young, cool, carefree and sexy mother" but just looks crazy and her child doesn't even seem to like her. Two years ago she wanted to be legend, now she's riding on Rihanna and Miley's trend.
I think her downfall will be a hard one, because it's so predictable. We predicted on DR blog pretty much every move she did in the past two years and we were rarely wrong. Looking at Beyonce now is like watching a train going to crash. She lied and stole way too much and now it's slapping her back in her face.
The next years will be hard for her, I can't tell why but sense it.
