The Ongoing Criminalization of (Black) Youth must stop!
And all you cosigners of this bullshat really need to reevaluate your 'support' of this travesty. As I don't know who I am more sick of uneducated Jay and Bey or the 'educated' college grads, professionals and tradesmen that are 'fans' of this, the travesty.
No one wants it to the be the case, but many elements of World/American has not healed or changed and see Black People as exploitable property for their benefit. Slavery is a great example of this exploitation of another race of people solely for the economic gain and comforts of another. With Slavery abolished the next best thing is Prisoner (Slave).
The only challenge was then to increase this Prisoner (Slave) population, ofcourse it can't be done by force but certainly by choice. That is why this CRIMINAL PERSONA/IMAGERY/REFERENCES is constantly marketed to Black Youth, particularly boys.
ON THE RUN is just another example, On the run from who? for what? This co opted hip hop has been used as a tool to criminalize (black) youth and it has worked and is constantly being reinforced by Rick Ross, Jay Z, Beyonce in addition ofcourse to degradation of woman and objectification of them.
When are we going to stop this nonsense. I get so tired of turning on the radio and hearing this garbage and I am sure I am not alone.
Jay and Bey are HARMFUL images and if they can't be a positive in our community why should they have any access. To F it up for their profit? Their child would be a perfect oppty to integrate positive imagery...in 2 years not 1 shot reading to their child. Not 1 when literacy is a huge issue in our community. But they putting out "On the Run" imagery....someone IS consuming this, internalizing this and acting on it and not its not just 'the parents' responsibilty it is a community issue as it affects the community in the end to have these illiterate, materilastic, misogynistic boys running amuck and oversexed, overweaved, illiterate 'fierce' girls running around.
Its time to wake up and act like we have some sense or are we going to allow the marketing of these criminal images, references to continue, the prison population to continue to spike and the black american branded as a criminal..what by birth? So a Trayvon can be shot and so many more as after all they are 'like that'.
Our kids are not criminals and this type of image, lifestyle should NOT be glamorized or marketed to them by anyone, including some folks beloved Jay and Bey, who ain't about shiz

Oh I know why, because in the black community we also have class issues.
And who cares about those poor born out of wedlock blacks anyway. As its funny, the majority of the 30+ parents I know that listen to Jay and Bey don't (who are 'educated')don't allow their children to. When I ask what about the parents who don't know any better...its like oh well, F them.
I think ALL criminal lyrics should be taken off radio ASAP, if people want to listen let them listen from itunes or however, but how are we sitting by why communal airwaves blare with this and kids are actually losing their lives and futures, because they are KIDS afterall and don't know any better.
The people who do know better don't seem to care about the at risk youth, so what happens, the prison pipeline continues.
No its not all the music but it does contribute

The American prison system is a "for profit" business from what I understand. So until the black community puts their foots down the system is going to keep harvesting young black men.

Well stated! I can't say it enough that I am overjoyed that people are waking up to this BS! I felt like one of very few people that felt the way you do, but I see that I am not alone. The deeds done in the dark (or hiding inplain sight) are coming to light!

I enjoy everyone's perspective on this site and I too find it cathartic in the sea of worship that most swim in these days.
For me it is not personal it is about our survival and we cannot survive emulating the imagery and value system espoused by these two.
It is about love for the whole not hate, it is a very real dilemma we are in as a black community and we will need to change in order to survive. As traditionally, the black community has been accepting of EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE, a good thing on the surface. However, when you accept things that are killing you then it is not a good thing and it is time to change course.
It is time to have some boundaries, limits and standards and CRIMINALIZING BLACK YOUTH even for 'entertainment' should be off limits PERIOD!

@guest123 I agree too bad Beyoncce don't see herself and her Husband as poison to black people. She won't see it until white media stops giving her attention by taking her picture and paying to see her in concert.Trust white media aka TPTB are waiting for her to f up worst than the Grammy labia flashing ...Worst than her stealing from other artist...She has been on a roll for 17 years non stop...It's luck not hard work as Beoncce claims.Dancing and singing comes easy for her so how is this hard work ?

@guest123 - I could not agree more. I am also tired of garbage music being put out in the atmosphere. What a lot of people don't realize is how powerful music really is. There is music for every emotion there is. I have seen people's moods and actions change when listening to certain songs. Some for the better...some for the worst. I also believe there is/was a conscious decision to market this madness. I believe it was those chosen artist, who were willing to put this type of music out are the ones who are our top artist today. It was manufactured just like the group NWA were put in place to get this "Gansta Rap" out to the people. There are several videos that expose this, as well as, Professor Griff, from the group "Public Enemy", professing this himself. It's an agenda that needs to come to an end by intelligent people who have the gift of discernment to break this system/curse/Spiritual battle.

isn't it bizarre how 'desensitized' people are and how 'controlled' and powerless people have like we just have to accept whatever is thrown our way. It's time for change, Jay and Bey (and some others) represent everything that is WRONG with the black community.
Beyonce (black inner city females) too much emphasis on Weave, Material rather than Literacy. Too much show not enough substance. Promoting inappropriate values to child not enough focus on core values.
Jay--Same, promoting drug dealing whenever the oppty arises etc etc.
I could go on, don't feel like it today, but it's time for a MAKEOVER and new PERSONAS the Jay and Bey thing will get us nothing but re-enslaved either physically, through debt with the excess materilism none of which is what life is about in the grander scheme of things and that's where I'm trying to be not on this low level 'bling' b/s
Yes, Professor Griff be putting it down and everyday people, we have to keep talking and keep waking people up, this isn't a game and the stakes are much higher than many can fathom

Honestly anyone that makes it in this society is doing that on some level or another. Its time to turn off the TV and the radio, support local artists, movie makers etc...Anything that comes from TPTB is a danger to our community!

I saw somebody on Tumblr say that tickets were $300. There are probably tix available for less than that but I still think that's too much. Wasn't her thing supposed to be 'relatability' this time around? Bey wants to play ratchet girl but charge opera house prices. And of course Jay is down for openly bilking people out of their money. People wouldn't buy that overpriced garbage at Barney's but there are fools who will pay more than they should to see Bullwinkle and Yodel perform together.

$300 is a bargain! You'll get to see two has-beens do the same old crap they've done for almost twenty years. Maybe Blue will join them on stage. Mummy in a thong and Daddy rapping about blow jobs. What a beautiful black family! When Blue is almost legal, she can rock her first leotard and pop it with her mother.
