A couple of things to consider:
Money Time Effort Rewards/returns
Money, consider the lifestyle you want, including everything from medical aid to vacations. Which of these career paths do you see bringing you closer to that life in the long term. Time, how do you want to spend your time, do you have family situations that need your time. Which path will be best suited to your time needs. Effort how much work will you need to do? some people thrive on high pressure deadlines, others don't. Rewards, which job might make you happier?

Which job are you passionate about? There's no point in having lots of money if you're miserable.
Which job can you see yourself doing for decades? Maybe even to retirement?
Why did you choose medicine in the first place, and what has changed your mind? Is it nerves, money problems, etc? What do you like about your current job? What do you hate? Does what you love about it make up for what you hate?
Have you studied the paralegal career enough to know the good, bad and the ugly in the field? Could you get paralegal experience to try the job out?
Remember, the worst case scenario is that paralegal isn't right for you. It's not a life or death situation. You could always go back to medicine or try different careers. Or combine law and medcine i.e. medical law.

[br Thanks, eljjai and @ivory great points, and I have been reading others experiences in this legal field, and from what I understand, it does require a lot of time, away from family. And that's my main concern. What I was doing in the hospitals was patient Care, to see if I wanted to be a nurse, and after 4 yrs of seeing the burn out, alcoholism, drug dependency, loss of sanity, stress from Dr's, patients, their families, I just don't know, it's crazy and I'd like to have a nice salary, but I'd like to stay fairly sane too, LOL. I mean not that it happens to all, but ALOT. I was thinking of getting off the floor, (patient Care) and going into the administrative side of it. Hence Health Information Management. But you both have some really great points, and I Thank you for your input. I'm supposed to be registering in the fall for my associates in either of those areas. But Health Information Management would allow many different jobs within healthcare. Paralegal would be limited to a legal secretary or some small paying job that really didn't required school in the first place, then finally leading up to the actual paralegal. I think though, I'll probably stay in the medical field. It sorta makes more sense. If you guys are religious, pray for me. Thanks again!! Happy Sunday!!

Hey Missy! I agree with the other ladies, think about your passion and the lifestyle you want to live... I completely understand your not wanting to burn out. I'll be praying that the Most High reveals the best path to you where you end up feeling like your purpose is being fulfilled and your pockets have the mumps!

Yes, you will at times work like a slave. If you don't like to read then this isn't the profession for you. Reading, research, typing...more reading, research and typing. It's endless. Depending on who and where you work, along with your degree will determine your salary. If you are fortunate enough to work with an attorney that has all your needs at access for you, you will be spending a lot of time in your nearest law library. If you're an organized person by nature you will be able to adjust in this environment. This is the type of career that can be rewarding. You will enjoy some of the perks of the job and will meet many people that can become your contact/network. Just trying to fill you in about what I personally know. I've even been in court for one reason or another. I'm no longer doing this but, Oh, the stories I could tell you. LOL! Hope this helps.
