I see that alot of people are upset that no black artist won any billboard awards in "our" catorgies. But what many of you fail to realize is that the Billboard awards are based off the billboard charts, NOT popularity or sales. Yes, Beyonce sold tons of albums when it first came out, but it only stayed at the number 1 position for for no more than 3-5 WEEKS. After that, the album plummeted on the charts. Same goes for her singles. XO didn't do well at all....partirion isnt doing so well either. Drunk in love did well, but that's about it. Hopefully pretty hurts can do well on the charts. But anyway...Justin Timberlake stayed on the billboard charts for quite a while, which is why he won the award. Same goes for Macklemore, Katy Perry, Robin thicke, and Eminem. Now, how can we, as black people, take back our throne? Well.....
Number 1: STOP BUYING BOOTLEG CDS AND STOP DOWNLOADING ILLEGAL MUSIC!!!!!
Number 2: SOME our black artists need to stop making garbage music!
So as much as you want to pull to race card, it's simply not true. Those white artists deserved every award they got, because they did well on the charts. Beyonce didn't receive any awards because she's is not doing well on the billboard charts. Simple as that. It has nothing to do with the time that she released the album. She simply is not doing well on the billboard charts.

Beyonce is all smoke and mirrors. You are right it has nothing to do with race. If you going to sing the same nursery rhymes songs over and over again but just add some sexual lingo to it PEOPLE are going to get TIRED!!! lol. 'Black music' hasn't been good for a while because it's always the same people at the top. New artists don't get the shine by radio/t.v. play, promotion etc. It's a damn shame!

Let's also not forget how Beyonce dropped her latest album along with many videos included. It was a blessing and a curse for her because it gave people the chance to overdose and binge on her product. So it just may be that the thrill is gone and is one of the reasons why she is not able to do as well. After awhile, eating left overs night after night after night...You get over it and want something else.
Another factor is this is exactly what David Bowie did minus the visuals. But David Bowie had been in the biz before Beyonce was even born and has gained followers from several different generations. He's in the league with people like Mick Jagger, Elton John, Sting, J. Taylor, Billy Joel, and a few more who are still making music and have at least 3 or 4 generations following them. IMO, Right now Beyonce can't touch that. Because the generation that follows Bey is called a microwave generation or ADHD generation. The music is only good for so long until they tire of it and begin to call the music old, played out or simply not cool anymore. But these are mostly her followers. I think in order for her to do something like how she dropped her album and make a big statement in the music industry like the older more seasoned artist have, she needs to develop generational followers and that's gonna take more time than she's put in. We'll see if she's around and if by then her songs will be called classics.

Her album is forgettable, this "royalty-to-rachet" mess didn't work. None of the songs have gone #1...she hasn't had a hit single since 2008, why would anyone besides her stans be surprised that she didn't win? The current state of appropriating black culture is not new, remember Elvis, Pat Boone: Although it is a shame not see any artists of color receive recognition at award shows this year, we also have to keep in my mind that these awards are given by TPTB . Anyone that gets rewarded by them is furthering their agenda. The current state of pop music/ R&B/ Hip Hop is extremely toxic, full of negative energy- bringing peoples vibrations down. Black artist should do better and their are alot of "underground" artists that do. IMO unless your playing into negative stereotypes (i.e. the drug dealing rapper, the jezebel singer) TPTB won't make you a star (put you in their movies, tv shows, make sure your songs are in heavy rotation on the radio, make sure you're on the cover of their magazines etc) To me its not so important what they think about us, compared to what we think about us. The goal is not to change the way other cultures see us but how we see ourselves, peace to Brother Malcolm! We used to have higher standards in our community than "mainstream society". There was a time when we wouldn't accept poison being disguised as entertainment and feed it to our babies! The saving grace is that more and more of us are re-awakening!

And even that 'royalty' garbage along with the 'hardest working' people say this because they were TOLD this not that it has an ounce of truth in it.
Royalty can articulate and has a broad base of knowledge
hardworking doesn't steal others' work, she doesn't write, she doesn't choreograph, she learns what others have put together
Her marketing team (Matthew) was genius, they drummed this mess in peoples' heads so much and so early on that now people repeat it as fact

When was the last time she got any kind of award...for her music I mean. I know i dont watch award shows so i could be wrong, and I dont see one comming in 2014 either. Hell if she does get one this year, then I'll know she bought it.

Her last #1 was about 6 yrs ago on the billboard lol that was in 2007/2008 and it was single ladies, she's not a hit maker. Drunk in love managed to reach #10 lmao, and those other singles are not even worth mentioning. She's a flop, the only queen is rihanna, who dominates the #1 spot on billboard hot 100 everytime she drops a single, who mad?

So true. The Billboard awards are based on Billboard stats. Beyonce's album is not even in the top 40 anymore. Meanwhile, Lorde and Katy Perry's albums, which were released BEFORE Beyonce's are still in the top 20. Katy's already had 2 number one songs on this album and Lorde has one on hers. Beyonce has NONE. And Katy has now sold just as much as Beyonce's album. Beyonce basically nearly all of her 3 million worldwide sales in a matter of a month and then the album just totally died, which is it's not even in the top 40 anymore, which is pretty pathetic. She's released 4 singles now: "Drunk in Love", "XO", "Parition", and "Pretty Hurts". Drunk in Love made it to the top ten and those other songs are pretty much nowhere to be found on the charts.
I don't think the Grammys are gonna be to kind to her either, especially now that her "clean cut" goddess image is damaged due to the elevator fight. Plus, Mariah Carey just previewed her album and it's already getting really good reviews and has several definite number one hits on it. If Mariah gets even one more number one song, that's gonna be a huge story in music because she'll officially have even more than the Beatles. Beyonce's music and album drop was a flash in the pan. The hype was dead after a month and she he basically no hit songs to show for it. It's hilarious.
