I love Annie Lennox. One of my favorite songs (and the music video for it) is No More I Love You's.

Thank God for Annie Lennox! She spoke truth and people can get mad if they want but they can't dispute what she said. Also, I just read this GREAT article about the media hypocrisy surrounding Beyonce. How she can do the most lewd things and every celebrates it as feminism, while Sophia Vergara was ripped to shreds for displaying her FULLY CLOTHED body on a pedastal. It's a great read. thefederalist.com/2014/08/26/feminism-or-sexism-depends-is-it-beyonces-vmas-or-vergaras-emmys/

Yes I'm so happy that she said it. Beyonce and Nicki M. Should never use the term Feminist when describing their ideals and endeavors. I feel like if you are shaking, popping and thrusting for money in this industry.. you are not a feminist. You have no control over your body or your sexuality because you are doing it for money. I don't understand how taking control of your sexuality means pussy popping and grinding on Drakes lap. I think it just pushes women further and further away from what feminist are trying to accomplish. You gonna gyrate and spread your legs in front of your daughter. -nothing feminist about that. You don't give a damn about other females when you tell them to bow down. You don't give a damn about other females when you let your crazy stans (male and female) go on EVERY social media outlets and let them tear people down. You don't use your influence over them for anything positive. I'm tired of these females doing this stuff and getting praised and being called icons and feminist when in reality ..you doing all this stuff to make sure all those checks keep rolling in. It really irritates me that they get to use feminism as another costume.

I still think Bey is paying people to praise her mediocrity and create hype because I refuse to believe anyone really thinks what she does is great.

I've always been an Annie Lennox fan. I'm glad she said this publicly and I'm glad some people can see through her BS.
Beyonce isn't fooling anyone but her stans and some Black feminists who are desperate for representation. Well I'm not that desperate for Beyonce to be the face of Black feminism. I believe she uses feminism for a few reasons. One is publicity. She sees it gets people talking about her. She first hesitatingly called herself a feminist in Shape magazine and people had a big reaction to it, so you know she liked that. Then she put Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi's feminist TEDtalk in her song, and the blogs really went crazy. Finally she did the VMA stunt with "feminist' on the backdrop, and it seemed people talked about that more than performance because I heard it was boring. Funny how she went from hesitating to call a herself feminist to having it in big bold letters behind her in less than a year of proclaiming herself one. Such a fake. I've been studying about feminism since I was 16, and she makes those of us who truly care seem like a joke now. She's makes it seem trendy. She makes me not want to call myself a feminist anymore.
Well let's see what her next feminist stunt will be. You know it's coming. It probably won't involve actually helping OTHER WOMEN and getting involved in feminist issues. No, it would just be something to give her more publicity. I also believe that she uses feminism as a cape so she can be as overtly sexual and bust it wide open all she wants, and as long as she screams "feminist!" it'll make anyone who criticizes her for doing nothing but selling sex look a bully. Beyhive is trying to make Annie look like a bully but she's speaking the truth.

Beyhive is trying to make Annie look like a bully but she's speaking the truth. That's what I'm saying. A blind man can see Beyonce is not a real feminist, she is an opportunist who has taken a serious cause and turned it into a cheap trick. Not once has Beyonce delivered any prolific speeches about feminism like the much younger Emma Watson. Nor has she written any prolific op ed pieces speaking out against the inequality between women and men in the workplace, specifically African American women. The only thing I've witnessed is her expressing her sexuality and claiming that as feminism. Newsflash! Madonna already did that 20 years ago.

I can't think of her name but she used to write for Pink and Christina Aguilera.
