I'm not going to respond to this video in depth but I will say that i disagree with him. People CAN and DO enjoy mainstream rap music while still harboring prejudice and malice against African-Americans specifically or against black people as a whole (regardless of nationality). The same thing happened in the past when people would enjoy ragtime, jazz, disco, etc. while still thinking of their creators as inferior. Being entertained by someone doesn't mean you respect and value their humanity.

I read some of his comments on another site and I can't do anything but shake my head at that fool. He and his wife could've been positive role models for young, urban kids but instead they are nothing but parasites.

Is he serious? Him and Beyonce try so hard to not offend white folk because they don't want to mess up their money. Or maybe they just really do believe the crap that they spew. They're both idiots who can't see pass their "riches"

Who asked him to speak? He's basically belittling racial issues and adding to the illusion of a post-racial society when it is far from that. I also agree with you, shanaelmsford. The way he phrased it in my opinion is like just because many share the same musical taste, they share the same belief, love and respect towards other human beings. Now, Hip Hop is very influential but does he really believe it improved race relations? Hell, if they could, they would still publicly show their disdain for us. I think what he was trying to say was that hip hop brings all kinds of people together (trying to sound like a pseudo-intellectual). No need to look deep into that statement. That's true. But improving racial relations? Nah. They just "tolerate" us. Hip Hop has been around since the mid 70's and quite frankly hasn't improved anything involving race. "Before people partied in separate clubs. There were hip hop clubs and there were techno clubs, Now people party together, and once you have people partying, dancing, and singing along to the same music, then conversations naturally happen after that." Does he really believe that? "It's very hard to teach racism when your kid listens to Snoop Doggy Dog" A little off topic, but there are [white] people who like rap and people who love and actually appreciate the Hip Hop culture. Example: I won't say majority, but most of N.W.A fans were white suburban kids and of course black americans. They were rapping about a lot of stuff that actually happening. But do you know none of them could relate to that? How that was just a fad to some of those teens? Was just a phase. It was cool at the time. A rebel stage. What do you think the majority of those white suburban kids are doing now? Now, I'm not saying they couldn't and didn't appreciate the music but...

All these phony fake ass celebs need to shut the fuck up. SERIOUSLY. We don't need opinions from stupid puppets who would do anything for one more dollar in the bank. First T.I's cooning ass defending Igloo Azufufu racists comments about blacks, hispanics, and aboriginal people, Pharrell making dumb and hurtful assomptions on Mike Brown's supposed bad behaviour, and now Jay Zulu with his hip hop faux philosopher nonsense. SMH.

SMH. Comment of the Year...already. You totally read my mind. I think this everytime mainstream celebs give their dumbass opinions. And I think more and more people feel the same. Who gives a sh*t what a celeb thinks? The only celebs I may give a little more credence to, would be independent thinkers like underground or obscure artists, or people like Prince, who think outside of the box and dont repeat platitudes for "the machine".

The year's barely begun and I'm already sick of these two psuedo intellectual psuedo-artistic leeches. They are just the parasites of society, they leech of off everything and everyone they can get their greedy little hooks in.
