Do you guys have any predictions for this new year in music? The industry? Artist etc? Any tea that you've read? Itll be cool to look back at the end of the year to see if anything came to fruition.

Just my opinion: Keep an eye out for Tinashe and FKA Twigs because there seems to be more hype surrounding them/their music than what's genuinely warranted. I think that they can both be used in service of the larger agendas the music industry promotes so if they play along then they'll become very popular this year, especially FKAT. Twigs makes trance-type music that can be very hypnotic to some people (making them more suggestible) and the symbolism in her videos can be brushed off as being "artsy" by unknowing viewers. Tin is a mediocre artist but she seems pretty desperate to make it and I can see that being leveraged to get her to sing/dress/act a certain way to become a big star.

From my perspective, It's not looking so great. They're not letting true artists shine anymore. Music has gone pornographic, with plastic injected so called barbies and "boss bitches", batty boi's, and wannabes. It has taken a whole generation with it, the lost generation is what I call them. TPTB is accomplishing their mission at a very rapid rate...it's scary! I heard a song on the radio today about loving that coco (cocaine), he went on in the song to say "I got that baking soda" or something to that effect, yall know, baking soda is cocaines main ingredient. This dude, whoever he is is glorifying his love of making and probably using cocaine, this song is on HEAVY rotation here.... like really? Then ya got all these Drake wannabes on the mic whinning (ew i hate that sound) bout the strip clubs, usher is telling the the girls in tha club, "he don't mind" just okaying the madness.
It's just sick. So yeah, this year? Music? Nah, I can say it won't be anything worth listening to.
I know I have some ladies here in my hometown....Houston, TX! So when I tell yall I keep my radio on Majic 102.1 and KTSU 90.9 on the wknd...yall know what it is! Grown folks, old school, a lil neo soul, R&B classics, blues, zodydeco. Music that makes you wanna just pass up your exit, & stay on the frwy...LOL
Yall hv a good night :-)

Twigs' music is very hypnotic and sexual .I enjoy her sound .When Im done listening and watching her perform the novelty begins to wear off for some odd reason.I see her being hot for a few years but I could be wrong maybe she has staying power.Tin is a one hit wonder IMO.Her Two On was hot, but she seems so desperate.Maybe that's a good thing?

I love that sexual hypnotic sound as well. Alot of my favorite 70s artists like Donna Summer have songs like that (esp her earlier, less mainstream songs)

Considering the rumors about a Las Vegas residency deal I'm starting to doubt that Janet is really putting out another album this year. If she does release something how do you think it will do? Is there still space in pop music for JJ or are things too different now?

To be honest with you about Tinashe, she isn't that mediocre. I do think the music industry marketed her very poorly to be branded as some pop ratchet fad. I listen to her album-produced mixtapes and she is an amazing writer. He earlier work was far more advanced than the crap we are listened to now. Vocally, she may not be in the same league as Mariah and Whitney but its sweet and soft. And another thing she is going back to school after she finish her Aquarius tour because the label is dropping her. I'd suggest she write music part/full time. On the other note that Twigs girl is weird AF. I The trees' song she did was somewhat haunting and her videos are so dreary its just..weird. maybe FKA is who they want No idea

I'm not crazy about either one of them. I had no idea tinashe was getting dropped isn't her father in the industry. I've heard that her writing skills are good she probably realized that's were the moneys at. She's made her way around the industry already, if I'm not mistaken they wanted to market her as the next big thing but people wasn't really feeling her like that. Now when it comes to Twigs I'm not here for her, an no I'm not a twilight fan either. I just found her stuff to be a little to demonic, I understand she wants to be gothic an all but I think the industry will use her to sell that NWO crap. I don't want to get sucked into that stuff which is why I try to avoid it. If she wants to do soul or indie then it doesn't always have to be dark and scary.

Yeah. Twigs videos/songs puts you in a strange vibe. Like if you are deep into that genre of music, you would maybe try to make sense of what she is singing. And i think the hype with her is the celeb she dated and got back width.

[br "2on" was a complete misrepresentation of her all her work. I wish they re release her previous albums/mixtapes. The girl makes timeless classics. They should have marketed her to be more classic/neo soul and/or soft rock. I hate when labels do that to quality artists. Like everything they do is discredited and oblivious because of a "trend" im glad that at least quality music does exist that i can listen to. But of course you have to search deep in the YouTube vids for it.

If this feature does well for Tinashe y'all can expect to see her with more drop it low songs in her repertoire.

Good Morning, Hometown Missy! When I am not listening to my IPod, I keep my radio on the same stations (102, 90.9), the Classic Hip Hop Station (Boom 92), as well as a few shows on KPFT 90.1 (Sounds of Soul Wednesdays, Soular Grooves, ect.). There are tons of DJ podcasts/ sound cloud sets that I enjoy and subscribe to (Local DJs Sun and Melodic, DJ Chicken George, King Britt, etc.). There is lots of good music out there, we just have to work a little bit to find it :/

Diplo trying to help Tinashe happenI don't know how much his co-signing is going to help, though. Now that the year is mostly over I have to say that Ciara has made some major strides this year, to the point where she's almost on the cusp of being an A-lister. Highly publicized relationship with that football player, stylized music videos with lots of YT hits, the Roberto Cavalli campaign, that show she does on NBC... she's had a lot of positive exposure this year that I don't think many people would have predicted. it'll be interesting to see how/if her image and music change if she's able to keep increasing her popularity.
