HSK Exclusive - The manager of a group previously signed to former record label Sanctuary Records — of which Mathew Knowles headed its urban department — is surfacing, blasting Bey’s pops as a man who often went M.I.A. from “notorious cocaine binges.”
“Mathew never showed up for Music World Entertainment meetings. It was six-months before we saw him, and he was a mess.”
That’s when the manager says he contacted Tom Lipsky, Sanctuary Records’
then-President — to file a complaint, threatening to stop his group’s planned release under the label.
“The record was due for failure because Mathew Knowles was too coke’d out and didn’t know what he was doing. Lipsky said he understood, promising to have the issue resolved. Two weeks later, Mathew Knowles was fired, two-weeks later.”
Here’s the drop:
“When I finally met Mathew at Music World, he had a moist limp handshake. At the time, he was partners with Kevin Liles. Mathew took the $10 million Sanctuary Records gave him — signed D12, Ray J, De La Soul, O’Jays and other acts. But, he really stole that money from Sanctuary. Mathew is a piece of shit.”
