Damn, this Tidal thing seemed to actually make people hate him even more. It was definitely not a good move.
*And should it be failing THIS FAST? Well, I guess that's what happens when you put out a product that's PURELY PROFIT, with no passion or real meaning behind it, but to make a name for yourself, as well as money.
There's nothing wrong with being seen as a business man, or entrepreneur, or whatever...but eventually, you can run ANYTHING into the ground, especially if its being done mainly for show, with no real knowledge or substance. Beyonce and Jay-Z are both at that point in their careers.
I'm just looking at how mean spirited the comments and news article headlines have been. My favorite is in red:
And feel free to add comments and "Industry shade" that you all are seeing as well.gawker.com/tidal-atry-my-tortuous-trial-with-jay-zs-overpriced-sp-1697023467Quote from article:"Somehow, people already hate Tidal, a company that's barely had a chance to exist but has already alienated much of its market: tidal app is ugly if tidal wasn't so ugly I would like it I hate tidal and I refuse to get it. Fuck that shit lmfao tidal fucking sucks pic.twitter.com/irH98NooPA For the record, Tidal sucks. Don't download it. Tidal looks so ugly hey @rihanna tidal sucks put ur new music back on spotify pls" "Hilarious. Look, Beats by Dré was a nice surprise story with how successful it was, but the Tidal experiment had a shot at success about as much as Rob Kardashian's sock line. The market was saturated, at Jay Z was just plain late to the game. That's all. See Kanye West's fashion line. It's all been done, and it's all been done better by smarter people, the very people who built the platform in the first place. Jay Z is certainly successful, hugely, but stop trying to pass him off as some sort of renaissance man talent. How's his sports agency going, by the way?""Acclaimed critic explains why Jay-Z’s new streaming music service will fail" bgr.com/2015/03/31/tidal-music-review-doa-lefsetz/More big-name musicians predict Jay-Z’s Tidal music service will ‘fail miserably’ bgr.com/2015/04/13/tidal-music-is-doomed/ "First of all Pandora and Spotify are free! Secondly Jay-z and Beyoncé have made stupid investment decisions, nothing but soft investments. From the start I knew this site would fail and I laughed every time I saw that ridiculously dramatic commercial. These people are in over their heads, America has bills to pay! And most of us are not multimillionaires, no one in their right mind is going to waste money for this service! Unless they have money to waste! They have some nerve with this #$%$ and the price, some nerve! Like Gwyneth Paltrow with the food stamp challenge...A bunch of buffoons!!!!"
"For me, I was immediately disinterested when I found out I had to pay for the service. For one, I had Spotify and Pandora, both which I'm still very happy with (even with ads), and two, I just don't think it's right to force someone to pay to listen to a particular artist. All the artist involved make more than enough money already, more than what the majority of subscribers will make in their lifetime, and now you want them to pay to support you? Get real! They need to remember that the fans make the artist, not the other way around!" "The level of arrogance embedded in this guy's brain is astonishing. To even think of competing in this saturated music streaming market and charging $20/month for the same service other giants in the business like Spottily, Apple and Pandora are charging less for is mind blowing. Who are his business advisers?" And check out their faces.....why do they look so depressed? They should be rejoicing, this is the opening day for Tidal!!

I must be in the minority here because I honestly did not expect this thing to fail so quickly. I thought we would at least make it into the summer before the mainstream backlash kicked in but this is crazy. The stans usage of the race card when it comes to this "Black owned business" is also amusing to me. The Carters have not publicly spoken out against any of the racial injustices that have taken place in America but the stans want to call us crabs in a barrel because we refuse to support this garbage. The crazies are losing their minds behind this failure and I'm enjoying the meltdowns, Muahahahahaha.

Jay's clearly fallen way out of favour with his masters and the public though I wonder which happened first. And I eonder why it happened now. The real owner of the company that owns tidal can afford to lose his investment money, he's a real billionaire. Jay's shuck-and-jiving-fetch-and-steppin-uncle -tom-coon behind cannot affordt to look bad. being a middle man is his bread and butter (meagre as it is) and if he loses cool points with the people he's no longer the go to middle man. I wonder who will replace Jay Z as middle man used to sell our people poison?
TI? Dre? Drake? Nobody likes Diddy

I think he initially had support because they believed the hype. Now that they see he can manage a cat out of a paper bag, the illusion is over and they are no longer interested in wasting money or resources for this AVERAGE NEGRO, strutting atound like he's the Warren Buffett or Trump.

I see it a just a little differently. My take is that the public at large can spot a fake, or his popularity is truly bottoming out - excluding the stans, of course. The PTB, unfortunately, haven't caught up yet. Otherwise why use mr Z-braggadocios? The PTB are still under the assumption that the Kardashian Klan are still popular. Yet the viewership of their show has fallen, significantly. ZooMan doesn't want to start, what you and I would term "a business" .... he wants to get rich quick. There's nothing to admire about that, so the people aren't buying his latest BS story about " helping the little guy" I could back any person wanting to start a real business, but he's offering what's already on the market. Its really no different than what he and his wife have been doing since they got on the stage - copying others success. With all of his stories about buying islands, being the riches couple in hip hop, having their wealth plastered in headline stories, etc. has now backfired on him. The comment (in the media) on the above articles were eye opening. By the way, great job on posing that here, Belledona. The commenters weren't attacking ZooMan personally as much as the actual Tidal site, for its lack of originality. I was very surprised as to the insights of the commenters, even suggesting that J should have had unknown artists on stage. Right now, my take is that the consumers have had enough of J and his nonsense. The PTB are still riding this dead horse, but this may be the turning point. I am also surprised that this happened so quickly! I was giving it two years, at least, before it hit the dust pile. Like the commenters on the other sites, I also felt that the televised, grand opening, was CREEPY.!!! All of us on this site are aware of the wheeler- dealer antics of J, but I was very impressed that others can think outside of the box and spot the horse shit that is shoveled to the public on the daily. This is one of the worse things that has happened, publicly, to J in a long time. I don't know whose idea it was to have ALL those MILLIONAIRES on stage, at one time, asking for MORE money? But it left a bad taste in many people's mouth, as their. comments expressed same.

THAT'S when we will really be breaking out the popcorn up in Destinys Rehab! The best/worst is yet to come.

And he is STILL looking for a pat on the head for everything he does and claiming to be more than he really is. (He once claimed to BE the drug dealer he was driving for and stole the guys name). It must kill him that Dre is closer to what Jay wishes he was than jay himself is. Dre isn't high profile, he keeps his head down and stacks paper. One very telling sign of the dubiousness of Jayz's so called riches: Both Dre and Diddy don't tour and put out albums constantly. They can afford not to do that and as far as we can see, Diddy still lives large with about 10 mouths to feed. He's not out cooning on a stage when he's too sick and frail to do so. Jay is the only one still running around trying to rap and not because there is a demand for his swill.

Jay is the only one still running around trying to rap and not because there is a demand for his swill. Not to derail the thread but this comment just made me realize that all those times he came back from "retirement" were probably because he was low on funds. Camel likes to think of himself as the Michael Jordan of rap but in terms of business acumen he's not even remotely close. Unlike Jay-Zoo Mike's money is actually long from putting his name on very successful products, so he could have stayed retired if he hadn't gotten bored. Air Jordans sell themselves, no? Even the rappers with "their own" Nikes are actually pushing limited edition Jordans (Koonye, Wheelchair Jimmy, Nicki Garbaj), so MJ still gets a cut. You won't see him doing flop ventures like enTIDALed or pushing McDonald's as if his life depends on it when he's 70 years old. The messed up part is that Jay may have been in better financial shape when he first left retirement than he is now. Dre and Diddy don't tour like JZ but he didn't used to tour like this either.
