Hopefully Ms. Jackson won't make this comeback trying to keep up with the so-called competition (gag). For goodness sake, I'm so tired of these animated automatons recycling each others images and sounds. Hopefully Ms. Jackson won't opt for the nude onesies, tacky blinged out leotards and panty hose. Maybe she realizes that most of us no longer wanna see the womb shots, nor the dancing on poles, chairs and in cages. I have faith that Ms. Jackson won't need all the continual pregnancy and divorce rumors just for relevancy, or that gawd awful photoshop nonsense.
Janet isn't perfect, she's surely had her moments, So I'm not placing her on any pedestal. But she did fall back, she gave her fans time to miss her, like Sade and others. Over exposure usually lands them on the psych ward at Cedar's or in some rehab for re-programming, then on to Vegas, look at Brittany. So yes, I believe it would be a breath of fresh air to have Janet back, I hope it's all true, just like when Sade makes her comebacks, it's wonderful. This could be the catalyst that will bring all the Indie artists more shine. Wishful thinking? Probably.
However, the stans of the stripper era can have their "ratchet" madness, and we can have our classy, mature entertainment, that's how I see it, Win win.
Clink,clink...cheers!

missy I don't think she's worried about her competition but even if she was I think that seeing how hard Madonna flopped by chasing after the young crowd would make her reconsider. Janet knows that 'desperate old lady' isn't a good look. Not to say that 49 is really old but if you're at that age and your falling over yourself to be popular with people who are young enough to be your children or grandchildren then it really highlights the differences in age and maturity. Janet launches Rhythm Nation Records through BMGIs she really the first mainstream Black female artist to have her own label? (I know the article says "African-American" but I'm thinking of Black artists from other countries as well.) I'm pretty sure Missy Elliott had her own label at some point and if I looked I could probably find others. Still, that artist services deal sounds good and I'm glad to see that Janet is looking to cultivate new talent. RNR sets Janet up to retire from recording and performing but still produce and write/co-write if she wants to.

I wanted to know more about the arrangement Janet has with BMG so I looked into service deals. According to Bloomberg News artists with label services deals can earn a much higher cut of the profits than with traditional deals. Now I see what that article was implying when they talked about her label. Janet's not the first to do it but she's the first to have an independent company that's contracting with a major label instead of being owned by one. If BMG isn't holding up their end of the bargain she can cut them loose without giving up any control. Talk about being a BOSS. You have to have confidence, skill, and money to successfully pull off something like this.

I like it. The childhood photos projected on the wall are a little weird given the topic of the song but it doesn't ruin the video for me. Very mellow vibe - sensual and sexy but without tons of flesh or raunch. Even with J. Cole I don't see this being a huge hit with kids/teens but I think it's good for the "quiet storm" crowd (grown folks who appreciate a solid groove)
I watched the video again and I'm not so fond of it anymore. The scene with the magnifying glass made me a little dizzy and at 1:38/1:39 it looks like she's making a Baphomet sign.

If this is what Janet want to do, then great for her. But I would not be married to a billionaire boy toy and be trying to do anything other than live the life.
