I agree with the commenter who said that this is probably another "troubled marriage" story to drum up interest in their joint album. Not to say that the Cartels may not be genuinely at odds with each other but we know how they plant stories to keep their names on gossip sites.
Let's pretend for a minute that at some point in the recent past they really were the highest-earning couple in music: I don't doubt that Jay's half-assed business schemes have cost them money as a couple but her increasingly trashy image and music probably haven't helped either. I would think that she shares as much of the blame as Camel, especially since she chose to have him as her manager. After she dropped Ratty she could have gotten a high-powered manager like Benny Medina because her brand had more power then; she would have been copying JLo again but at least someone like Benny could have helped her weasel her way into better business opportunities. Has her makeup contract been renewed? Why was she allowed to sign that deal with Pepsi when it was highly probable that she couldn't give them a good ROI? Before Givenchy when was her last high-end endorsement?
